Texas PASS was developed by the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, with support from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and in partnership with Children’s Medical Center Dallas.

The program aims to improve access to pediatric subspecialty services for Medicaid- enrolled children and to provide rapid, expert consultation with pediatric subspecialists for primary care providers. Access to pediatric subspecialists is often difficult due to a shortage of specialists and a lack of proximity.

Texas PASS:

Allows for prompt, subspecialty consultations in the clinic, office or urgent care facility and provides referral assistance if needed

Improves communication and care coordination

Minimizes patient travel and missed time from work or school

Reinforces the resources of the patient’s medical home

By working together with the Texas PASS team, physicians throughout Northeast and North Central Texas can now serve their patients even more effectively than ever before.
